Today begins week 1 for our 1976 Land Yacht Sovereign Airstream renovation! We are so excited to get started on the demolition. Hammers, power drill, and masks are the essentials for today as we determine what to remove first. Our plan is to strip the Airstream to the bare aluminum to gain access to the electrical, plumping and insulation. We have a long road ahead of us, and a short timeline, but we are definitely up for the challenge! Before we get started on the renovation, we wanted to take a moment to give you a quick walk through of our Airstream.
Immediately after walking up the two stairs into the Airstream, you find yourself in an outdated, original 70’s kitchen. The appliances are all still in working order, but we have decided to remove them and upgrade to modern appliances.
If you turn to your left, you are then in our living room! It features a pull out couch, and a pop up dining table. These will be removed and replaced with a redesigned dinette that can fit up to six people.
Josh drew a rough layout of what we would ideally like the living room/kitchen area to look like when we are finished renovating it. We plan to use a butcher block counter top, stainless steel appliances, and white cabinetry to keep the space as bright and cheery as possible.
After making your way down the hall, past the bathroom and wardrobe, you find yourself in the bedroom. It currently has two twin beds, which we will be replacing with a custom built queen sized bed.
Sometimes photos just don’t quite give you the full experience of something, so we made a short video of our Airstream walk through. Hope you enjoy! We look forward to having you along for our journey!
