This week consisted of a bunch of small tasks that will make a huge impact in the long run. We are on the home stretch for finishing the interior to the point that we can lay down faux hardwood, and install our new appliances. I know I have said that several times now, but I promise we are getting to that point! I am so eager to start building our new bed, but it will happen in due time! It is fun looking back at all the progress of our Airstream renovation and seeing how far we have come in such a short period of time.
This week my grandpa took our propane tanks home to refurbish and polish them. You can see his progress below, they are going to polish up really nice! Our propane tanks are the brand Worthington which thank goodness is still in existence, so we are able to buy replacement parts for them…
He will be adding a new LP gas automatic regulator, hoses and adaptors to ensure we have a clean line of propane and our Airstream doesn’t blow up!
They look amazing so far, and I am so grateful for all the time he has put in…
On the exterior trailer, under where the propane tanks used to sit, Josh took a wire bristled brush to clean up our trailer hitch. He decided to coat it with a silver paint product (can’t remember what it’s called) to seal in the rust and make it look new again!
He did such a great job….I’m so proud of him! It looks pretty much brand new again…
After the trailer hitch was finished drying, Josh and my grandpa climbed a ladder to start replacing the running lights and break lights around the Airstream. They were pretty corroded underneath!
Here are the new ones…
Meanwhile, inside, I had the basic but necessary task of installing new switch plate covers on all the outlets. I believe we have eight of them! It’s really starting to feel like home now…
Lastly, I cleaned up the ceiling light plates, and my grandpa installed them…
Now we just have to wait for the new light bulbs to come in the mail. They will be halogen bulbs because the LED light bulbs were way to expensive. We may change them at a later date though to save energy.
I feel like we got a lot done this week. We ordered a few dome lights for the front of the trailer for the dinette area, and a bathroom light fixture. I can’t wait to share with you next week when those are installed!
Till’ next time…
Have a great Tuesday!
