3 Ways To Transform Your Morning

As life slowly becomes more hectic for us, I’ve come to cherish the quiet early morning hours. For a natural night owl like myself, it has been a challenge to reach this appreciation, but also very rewarding. Whether you naturally wake up feeling alert and productive or wake up with the functioning of a zombie (like me), these 3 tips will help you transform your morning and set a positive tone that lasts the entire day.

3 Ways To Transform Your Morning

[blockquote author=”William Blake” ]Think in the morning, act in the noon, read in the evening, and sleep at night.[/blockquote]

1. Get Up Early

Set your alarm for an extra twenty minutes before when you need to actually get up and going.

Instead of hitting snooze, open your eyes and just lay there. The light will naturally start to wake you up and give you the energy you need to move forward.

This works perfectly for me, because I honestly don’t want to have to jump out of the warm sheets.

2. Set An Intention

While you’re laying there for that extra twenty minutes, think about what you might want to accomplish for the day.

By setting an intention, you will create focus and purpose for your day.

Even if your intention is to just to get out of bed and start the day, it is an achievable accomplishment that you will feel good about when you actually do it!

3. Slow Down

Our lives have become so busy, it’s rare to get free time to just be.

Make time in the morning to breath in the new day and stretch. Wiggle your toes. Sit up and roll your neck. Stretch your arms to the ceiling -anything to start the process of waking up.

After I feel more awake, I usually get out of bed to light my new Italian Melon Mint Pillar Candle from World Market. The smell makes me imagine a Tuscan hillside garden filled with refreshing cucumber, lime zest, and honeydew.

Then, I put on a pot of water for my Organic Green Tea and open the window to let in the fresh air.

Moving this slowly in the morning allows me to start the day with a positive, intentional beginning. I now look forward to watching the sun slip between the cracks of my blinds, illuminating my room with a brilliant white glow each morning as I sip on my tea and blog.

What does your morning routine look like?

  1. I am usually women up by my dog, and then try very hard to avoid picking up the phone and checking social media. :) I put the coffee on, let the dog out, and then meditate for 20 minutes (Headspace) followed by a 1 hour walk with the dog. Then I’m ready for my day!

  2. I LOVE lying in bed in the morning before getting up. Haven’t been able to do that lately, so your post is inspiring!

Really like this blog! We all often miss setting intention and making room for what we want in life and not just letting life pass us by. Lovely. Thank you :)

  4. If I’m being absolutely honest I’d love to throw my alarm clock out the window. However the 6.45 starts are going to be a part of life for the next few years. I do allow myself plenty of time to set my intentions, spend some time in gratitude and say a few affirmations before I actually need to get out of bed and get going. Great post.
