When we arrived in Big Bear for Lauren and Andrew’s engagement session, we stood in awe at the recent snowfall that blanketed everything. Stepping out of our car and hearing the distinctive crunch of snow underfoot, got our hearts racing. We knew we were in for some fun! The air was crisp but heavy with humidity as the snow was beginning to melt.
As we made our way up the Castle Rock trail, the sound of rain was all around us. Trapped in the branches of the fur tees, the melting snow fell all around us as we ascended the mountain. A creek that is normally dry, surged with new vigor, fed by the snow still piled high on its banks. Fortunately we were not the first up the trail. The trail had already been walked, cutting a narrow groove through the snow. Single file, we hiked up through the trees, taking in deep breaths of the rich mountain air.
Lauren and Andrew, thank you for being so adventurous and willing to traverse the deep snow. We had SO much fun with you two! We are counting the days for your wedding at Serendipity in Oak Glen. It’s going to be even more magical and we can’t wait to be there to capture every moment. Love you guys!
While living in Alaska with Lauren, Andrew shipped the wedding ring he chose all the way from Los Angeles to surprise her…isn’t it just perfect?!
We started the shoot in their formal attire which looked amazing against the freshly powdered forest…
They hardly needed any direction from us because they were truly happy to just be with each other…
It was pretty frigid outside, so we stopped several times to get warm before continuing on the hiking trail…
They even decided to have a snowball fight!!!
…and Andrew pretty much won…but Lauren was having too much fun to care!
Right before the shoot was about to end, we stumbled upon this beautiful clearing! Lauren and Andrew looked pretty epic climbing up to the top of the boulders…
